We bought a house!

We recently purchased our first house in downtown Raleigh.  It is a bit of a fixer upper, but luckily we have hired the Shirk brothers to take this project on.  It should be ready in two weeks!  Really, we are looking at 4 – 6 months of renovations.  Demolition is slated to begin February 1st.   Hopefully during the summer of 2011 we will be moving into a brand new ~100 year old house in a nationally registered historic district.

We started this blog to document the renovation process.  Stay tuned to see what will hopefully be a weekly update.

In addition to the house, we hope to add other adventures that will be of interest to friends and family.

    Kate & Andy,
This is great for those of us who want to share your excitement but are just a tad bit out of the viewing area!. Now you know that you’ve laid down the challenge for me to scrap this for you guys. I’ll let you know how I do on getting the photos printed. Oh yeah I still owe you a honeymoon album. Snow day on Wed. maybe that will be a good time to start.

Hey, I can’t wait to see the next posting of photos of the demolition. Thanks for taking care of those of us who are not in Raleigh but really need to see what’s going on! Don’t forget to include all the fun things you find in the house. When you find the missing Confederate treasury, let me know! If you find Jimmy Hoffa or Elvis living in a secret room, tell them I said hello!
