They have got the foundation shored up around the back half of the house and closed in the old gaps. The contractor also has the kitchen framed up and a new roof across both the laundry and kitchen in the back of the home. It is a pretty dramatic difference between the original home with the lath and plaster walls and the new plywood kitchen. Hopefully it is not so obvious in a few months.
Our contractor also pointed out how at some time in the past the floor of the second story in the master bedroom had caught fire, you can see the remains of a charred beam in the third photo. Best “guess” for completion is about 4 months out so we’ll see.
We also started doing some yard work this past weekend. All of the bushes out front are now gone. Kate is excited to think we will not have a mice problem with all of the snakes we dug up in removing the shrubs. Having the bushes gone really opens up the yard, just need to move the dumpster to finish opening it up. It is kind of fun to do yard work on a home you own versus rent.

I guess a period-correct set of fire irons, utensils, and S-hooks for your kitchen is off the Christmas list. I really was loving that outdoor feel that you had going, but you’ve got big windows, so that’ll help. I can’t wait to see it!
