South Africa. August 2018

In early August of 2018 Andy was asked to travel to South Africa for work.  The trip began with a quick three and a half days of field work out of a planned five. Having such an efficient field crew assisting enabled us to finish up early and allowed for a Friday morning mill tour followed by an afternoon of zip lining through the Drakensberg Mountains.  After dropping a coworker at the Johannesburg airport Andy took an all too brief visit to Kruger National Park.  One day was simply not long enough but amazing nonetheless and provided Andy with his one and only wild rhino siting.  The final day in Joburg started with a visit to the powerful and informative Apartheid Museum.  After leaving the museum I toured around the city for a while before heading to the airport for the 15 hour return flight.   Visiting eastern South Africa for a short work trip, mixed with a few days of vacation on the end, was an amazing opportunity.  Hopefully sometime in the near future I can take the family with me on a longer trip and check out more of the country.
