The rotten kitchen is gone.

We found out today from the historic people that we could still get our tax credits if we started over with the kitchen, so it will soon be removed and replaced with a not so rotted kitchen.  They started framing the half bath, guest bathroom, laundry room and a few doors that are going to…

As more demolition is completed we have learned that the house is in good shape, but the additions in the back are not.  We learn this week if we need to start from scratch with them!  The kitchen is looking pretty scary, but Emma seems to like it just fine.

Asbestos removal started and we can see some of the siding of the house, along with the hardwood floors.  We also found that Andy and I are finally eye level if we stand on opposite end of the master bedroom!  You can see how the previous owners fixed the sinking room.

We recently purchased our first house in downtown Raleigh.  It is a bit of a fixer upper, but luckily we have hired the Shirk brothers to take this project on.  It should be ready in two weeks!  Really, we are looking at 4 – 6 months of renovations.  Demolition is slated to begin February 1st.  …
